PEKAN: Dua program diatur Pakatan Harapan (PH) Pahang di kawasan FELDA Chini 2, dekat sini, dilihat gagal memberi impak kepada sokongan warga peneroka terhadap Barisan Nasional (BN).
Walaupun menampilkan Pengerusi PH, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad yang turut diiringi isterinya, Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali, sambutan diterima daripada penduduk tidak seperti dijangka atau diharapkan.
Dr Mahathir yang tiba di kawasan FELDA Chini 2, di sini, kira-kira jam 2.15 petang tadi dan terus ke inap desa disediakan untuk rombongan pemimpin dan ahli PH bagi majlis makan tengah hari sambil beramah mesra dengan penduduk.
Beliau meluangkan masa kira-kira sejam sebelum berehat sementara menunggu program bersama masyarakat Orang Asli di Perkampungan Orang Asli Gumum, yang terletak kira-kira 15 kilometer dari inap desa berkenaan.
Majlis Perjumpaan Bersama Masyarakat Orang Asli Kampung Gumum yang dijadualkan jam 4 petang, hanya bermula kira-kira jam 5 petang berikutan laluan ke kampung berkenaan yang agak sempit, ditambah pula dengan konvoi kenderaan pacuan empat roda mengiringi bekas Perdana Menteri itu menambahkan kesesakan di sepanjang jalan.
Kehadiran Dr Mahathir dan Siti Hasmah juga seolah-olah kurang mendapat perhatian penduduk kampung berkenaan apabila hanya kira-kira 50 penduduk yang datang daripada lebih 500 penduduk yang menetap di perkampungan terbabit.
Ucapan disampaikan Dr Mahathir hampir 20 minit juga seperti kehilangan daya tarikan apabila ada antara penduduk dilihat seperti tidak memberikan perhatian terhadap apa yang cuba disampaikan Pengerusi PH itu.
Seorang penduduk yang ditemui selepas majlis berkenaan, Ismail Mohamad, 53, berkata mereka hanya menyokong pemimpin atau parti yang boleh membantu Orang Asli di kampung itu.
"Kami tidak kisah sangat siapa yang datang, kami akan pilih (undi) mereka yang boleh membantu kami.
"Musim (pilihan raya) sudah dekat, semua orang (parti) pun turun (datang) ke sini... kita mahu tengok apa yang mereka tawarkan, nak tengok apa manifesto mereka ada, kemudian baru kami buat keputusan memilih siapa," katanya.
Secara keseluruhannya, kunjungan kali pertama Dr Mahathir ke sini, yang dilihat sebagai usaha untuk cuba memecah dominasi sokongan kepada Perdana Menteri, Datuk Seri Najib Razak yang juga Ahli Parlimen Pekan boleh dikatakan kurang berjaya.
Setakat mengadakan program sehari dan berjumpa untuk beberapa minit dengan penduduk di sekitar kawasan FELDA Chini, agak mustahil untuk Dr Mahathir menggunakan aura yang dirasakan masih dimiliki beliau untuk mempengaruhi penduduk di sini.
