KUALA LUMPUR: Punca kematian menantu Timbalan Perdana Menteri Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, Datuk Syed Alman Zain Syed Alwi, adalah disebabkan tindak balas alahan yang serius (anaphylaxis) berikutan diberikan ubat penenang untuk prosedur pergigian.
Pegawai Penyiasat Cawangan Kawalan Amalan Perubatan Swasta (CKAPS) Putrajaya, Dr Siti Khadijah Hawari, yang membacakan Laporan Autopsi di Mahkamah Sesyen hari ini, berkata laporan itu mengetepikan kemungkinan tindak balas disebabkan alahan terhadap makanan diambil mangsa berdasarkan tempoh masa antara pengambilan makanan dan prosedur pergigian,
Dr Siti Khadijah, selaku saksi ke-13 pendakwaan, berkata laporan itu menyebut, ia menyokong pemerhatian pakar perubatan yang menjalankan autopsi, berikutan Laporan Jabatan Kimia tidak membuat sebarang rujukan terhadap alahan kepada makanan.
Laporan Autopsi itu dibacakan Dr Siti Khadijah ketika disoal balas oleh peguam Sreekanth Pillai, mewakili Pusat Pakar Pergigian Imperial yang didakwa atas sembilan tuduhan berhubung kematian Syed Alman.
Sreekanth terdahulu bertanyakan saksi mengenai punca kematian mangsa, yang dijawab Siti Khadijah, "tindak balas alahan yang serius."
Peguam bela itu kemudian bertanyakan alasan yang boleh menyebabkan alahan terbabit, bagaimanapun saksi menjawab beliau bukan pakar yang sesuai memberikan penerangan mengenainya.
Hakim Hamri Thamri Mohamad, kemudian membenarkan permohonan Sreekanth supaya saksi membacakan Laporan Autopsi berhubung punca kematian mangsa.
Dr Siti Khadijah memberikan keterangan terhadap pusat itu yang diwakili pengarah syarikatnya Dr Wong Yen Ling, didakwa atas sembilan tuduhan berhubung kematian Syed Alman Zain, antaranya selaku orang kena saman (OKS) dan pemegang lesen, didapati gagal memastikan Dr Ting Teck Chin yang memberikan perkhidmatan anestesia mempunyai kelayakan anestesiologi.
Pusat pakar itu juga didakwa sebagai pemegang lesen, gagal memastikan individu yang berkhidmat untuk menjalankan prosedur radiologi (orthopantomogram) dan perkhidmatan anestesia secara 'IV Sedation' ke atas Syed Alman Zain mempunyai kelayakan berbuat demikian.
Teck Chin sebelum ini turut didakwa menyebabkan kematian Syed Alman Zain di pusat pakar itu mengikut Seksyen 304(b) Kanun Keseksaan, memperuntukkan hukuman maksimum penjara 10 tahun atau denda, atau kedua-duanya sekali. Perbicaraan terhadap Teck Chin bersambung minggu depan.
Sementara itu, Timbalan Pendakwa Raya, Jaizah Jaafar Sidek, memberitahu mahkamah bahawa pihak pendakwaan menutup kes dan menawarkan saksi mereka kepada pihak pembelaan.
Hakim kemudian menetapkan pada 15 dan 23 Mac ini bagi hujahan dan 28 Mac ini bagi keputusan.
