KUALA LUMPUR: Kedai roti premium, The Loaf, milik Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamed menutup perniagaannya selepas 12 tahun beroperasi.
Penutupan itu disiarkan menerusi satu notis yang dimuatnaik dalam media sosial bertarikh 9 April lalu yang ditujukan khusus untuk pelanggan mereka.
Notis itu bagaimanapun tidak menyatakan sebab mengapa ia ditutup sebaliknya hanya berkata berpuas hati berjaya mencapai objektif utamanya.
Ia turut merakamkan penghargaan kepada semua pelanggannya di atas sokongan diberikan kepada mereka sepanjang 12 tahun.
The Loaf diuruskan oleh M&M Consolidated Sdn Bhd, usaha sama di antara Dr Mahathir dan Motoko Resources Sdn Bhd. Dr Mahathir memiliki 51 peratus kepentingan dalam syarikat itu.
The Loaf mula membuka cawangan pertamanya di Telaga Harbour, Langkawi pada tahun 2006 dengan pelaburan sebanyak RM3 juta.
Ia kemudian berkembang sehingga 12 cawangan antaranya di pusat beli belah KLCC, Pavilion dan Sogo di Kuala Lumpur dan Empire Shopping Gallery, Subang Jaya.
Sementara itu, salah seorang pekerja kedai roti premium itu, berkongsi perkembangan bagaimana The Loaf ditutup secara mendadak di laman Twitter.
Beliau yang menggunakan nama profil little bald head@imannwu, berkata semua pekerja tidak mengetahui mengenai penutupan operasi kedai itu dan tiada notis diberikan, sebaliknya hanya dimaklumkan pada hari kejadian.
Katanya, pihak pengurusan juga memaklumkan yang semua pekerja mungkin akan diberikan pampasan berikutan penutupan perniagaan itu.
